Pollution

Brush fires are common in the Congo. Really common. Whenever I looked out the plane window, it seemed to look like this.
I'm told that within a month or two -- as the dry season progresses -- you can't see anything from a plane. This shot from about 11,000 feet gives you a sense of how thick the air is with smoke.
When I would sit outside in the Congo, little bits of ash would fall from the sky at all hours of the day. Sometimes, it seemed a bit like snow flurries.
