Thessaloniki, Greece

First stop, Thessaloniki. It was an easy drive on pretty good roads, though getting out of Sofia was no picnic. We got there after less than 4 hours. The car caused us no trouble at the border; we didn't even have to get out before they waved us through.

The language in Greece was also a bit challenging.
Thessaloniki was beautiful and lots of fun. Cafes along promenades. Tasty dinner with a crazy (and very old) street performer who did handstands on multiple chairs stacked precariously on top of one another. Young people packing the streets outside bars on a Wednesday night until well after 1:00 a.m.
Markets and lots of shops.
And a nice walk along the sea.
One challenge: The Internet doesn't help much with hostels in Thessaloniki. Apparently there was an awful one that closed some time ago. We got a hotel for 35 euros, which worked just fine.
