Leptis Magna Part 1: Arch of Septimus Severus

The first thing you see when you walk into Leptis Magna, 130 km east of Tripoli.

This place is unbelievable.  Other sites I've visited have had some well preserved ruins, but this is an entire city -- acre upon acre of ruins.  You can walk the same streets people walked 2000 years ago and visit building after building.  All are preserved well enough that you can easily envision how this decadent and extraordinary city looked in its heyday.
