It’s in the north of Namibia, about 450 km north of Windhoek. It’s 22,912 square kilometers -- one of Africa’s largest national parks. Etosha has 763 km of roads (almost all of which are dirt). It has 114 large and small animal species, 340 bird species, and 86 springs, fountains, and waterholes.
About 21% of the park is the Etosha Pan, a vast expanse of flat, salty, cracked earth. Here’s a view of the pan off in the distance.
