"What have you come for? Theatrical folk? Women of easy virtue? You can find them all in Bulla." That's what St. Augustine said about Bulla Regia in a sermon during the fourth century.
If you came any time before 1906, you would have found a female skeleton bound to a chair with an iron ring around her neck. A nearby inscription said in Latin: "Adulterous prostitute: hold me, because I have run away from Bulla Regia."
Now, you can come for ruins, underground villas, mosaics, and a vomitorium. Plus, there's ice cream in the cafe across the street!
That's the town's mosque jutting out past the end of the passageway.
