Most roads in Lubumbashi are dirt and barely passable. But near the city center, tar roads abound, and there's lots of foot traffic in all directions, as people walk in and out of shops. This is the view from a balcony near the city center.Another building near the center.
An illicit shot of a state building at night. A guy I met here spent most of a day here trying to get a passport for the Congolese baby he is trying to adopt. One of the very few parks in Lubumbashi. This one is opposite the public building in the shot above. It wasn't especially crowded, but people filled every bench, and at the other end, a group of kids was playing soccer.A typical scene near the city center. I walked down that road near the top right of the photo -- the one snarled with traffic. It got less nice with each step away from the center.
