Howzit, hey?

Three common terms in southern Africa:

"Howzit?" A greeting, the equivalent of hello or how you doin'.

"Hey." Some people punctuate nearly every sentence with the word hey. "It's cold today, hey. Got some coffee, hey?" It's catchy.

"Izzit?" The equivalent of saying "really?" or "oh yeah?" after someone says something. Sometimes, Izzit seems to mean that the person is interested or impressed with what you just said. Other times, it seems perfunctory -- just a way of letting the person know you're listening to them.
